Recently the Unveiling Ceremony of Project Applicable for the Equator Principles of Industrial Bank Co., Ltd. was held in Wenzhou Chuangyuan Water Affairs Co., Ltd., indicating that the project applicable for the Equator Principles was formally implemented by Kangda Chuangyuan Sewage Treatment Plant. It is of great significance for Kangda Chuangyuan Sewage Treatment Plant, the first project acquired by Kangda EP Group in Zhejiang Province, to receive this honor.

      In the course of the ceremony, Wu Jinwang, Manager of Wenzhou Branch of Industrial Bank Co., Ltd., introduced the purpose and development of projects applicable for the Equator Principles of Industrial Bank Co., Ltd., and spoke highly of Kangda EP Group and Kangda Chuangyuan Sewage Treatment Plant.

      Wang Tianci, Vice President of Kangda EP Group, indicated that the principle of financial sustainable development mentioned in the Equator Principles was perfectly in harmony with the strategy of sustainable development proposed by Kangda EP Group. Wang Tianci thought that Equator Principles would not only influence the project but also be of great significance for operation, management and sustainable development of enterprise, and he appreciated the assistance of Industrial Bank Co., Ltd.

      Yu Qian, Director of Financial Affairs Office of Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government, extended his congratulations to Kangda Chuangyuan Sewage Treatment Plant for the implementation of the project, spoke highly of the great efforts made by Industrial Bank Co., Ltd. for achieving sustainable development of local areas, affirmed the capability of Kangda Chuangyuan Sewage Treatment Plant for constructing and operating the project, and required leaders of Kangda Chuangyuan Sewage Treatment Plant to implement routine work based on the thought of sustainable development to achieve sustainable development of sewage treatment.

      It is learned that the Equator Principles is a voluntary financial industry benchmark, established by world’s leading financial institutions based on the sustainable development policies and guidance of International Finance Corporation (IFC), for determining, assessing and managing environmental and social risk in projects. The Equator Principles has become the benchmark for international projects financing since June 2003. Currently 90 financial institutions (including Industrial Bank Co., Ltd.) in 37 countries have officially adopted the Equator Principles, covering over 70% of international project finance debt in emerging markets. Assessment on environmental and social risk was conducted for the Phase I Upgrading Project and Phase II Expansion Project of Kangda Chuangyuan Sewage Treatment Plant, two projects applicable for the Equator Principles. Meanwhile, the projects (with loan amount of RMB 205.5 million), recognized as green livelihood projects, were able to enjoy preferential policies of green finance loans of Industrial Bank Co., Ltd., including simplification of the approval process, low borrowing costs and long loan period. The disbursement of the loan will promote the development of projects of Kangda Chuangyuan Sewage Treatment Plant, and further integrate the idea of green development with practice in Wenzhou City.
