On July 13, under the blue sky, Xuedian Plant welcomed a group of special guests at 9:20 a.m. The education department, with the assistance of the Xuedian Town Government, arranged representatives of teachers and students from the Primary School in North Jiefang Road to visit Xinzheng Xinkang Water Co., Ltd. (Xuedian Sewage Treatment Plant).
Before the visit, Li Guanghui, deputy director of No. 1 Plant of Xinzhongzhou Water Co., Ltd., shared the source of sewage with teachers and students so that they could have positive knowledge of sewage. Director Li showed them around coarse screens, fine screens, biochemical pools, dosing rooms, secondary sedimentation tanks, fiber rotary filters, and gave a straightaway explanation for the whole treatment process. When it came to the coarse screen which is used to salvage garbage, Director Li especially stressed that everyone should develop a good habit of not littering and sorting garbage from childhood, which would contribute to pollution reduction. When walking to the aerobic section of the biochemical pool, a storage area for dirty and smelly muddy water, Director Li patiently told everyone that muddy water contained various microorganisms needed in sewage treatment, and they were kept active by supplying oxygen through air blowers and aerating systems to eat off those pollutants. What surprised the children most was the function of the secondary sedimentation tank, which contributed to the change that muddy water turned into the clear water in an instant. The children enjoyed Director Li's patient explanation and visually learned how sewage turned into the clear water after Director Li showed a water sample in a measuring cylinder.
