On July 16, four sewage treatment plants in Xinzheng Area carried out potential safety hazard investigation successively. Following that, they conducted a centralized training on safe production.

According to the Emergency Notice on Strengthening Safe Production, plants implemented investigations on the confined space and source of hazardous gases and inflammable and explosive articles, especially the confined space where foul gases are prone to be generated like coarse screen, fine screen, sludge return pump house, sludge storage, inspection well and conduit shaft, as well as the disinfectant dosing room where hazardous gases tend to be generated. In addition, ventilation was strongly required in these places. Statistics on emergency supplies were also needed for in-time refilling of the shortage.

Later, the staff on duty was organized to take training for safe production in sewage treatment plants. The safety training, with the aim to improve pre-warning ability, was rolled out in the introduction to the negative examples of the explosion in the acidizing workshop of Liaoning Fuxin Sewage Treatment Plant and accidents related sewage treatment plants in the first half of the year. The training laid emphasis on safety precautions in the production place of hazardous gases and inflammable and explosive articles. In particular, staff on duty was required to work in line with operating rules, strengthen daily investigations and rectifications on hidden dangers, and enhance the awareness of safe production. Safe production should be always borne in mind and put into practice. The responsibility for safe production taken by every member of the staff should be clarified to ensure that the responsibility shall be fulfilled in a down to earth manner. Be sure to place safety as the top priority, take prevention as the orientation and remain vigilant at all times.
