The phase I project of Fendong Sewage Treatment Plant is located at the north of Xiaohe River and the south of Donglijie Village, Liujiapu Township, Xiaodian District, Taiyuan. Covering an area of 205.65 mu, with its ground arrangement, it plans to reach a scale of 350,000 tons/day. Its service area is within Taiyuan, covering the area to the east of Fendong and the area to the south of the South Ring Transit Highway. The phase I project has two steps. The first-step project is designed to have a scale of 150,000 tons/day, with the process "AAO+NCE+deep processing". With a total investment of about RMB 440 million, the construction began at the end of 2017, and the trial operation began on January 1, 2019. On April 30, 2019, the plant was put into operation. The second-step project is designed to have a scale of 200,000 tons/day, with the MBR processing. With a total investment of RMB 656 million, the construction began in December 2020, and the trial operation began in the middle ten days of May 2020.  On May 31, 2020, the effluent quality has reached the standard. At present, preliminary performance tests and commercial trial operations are being prepared.
