The Fuzhou Sanjiang ecological rehabilitation project is located in the northwest of the old urban area of Fuzhou. Fuhe River, Yihuang River, and Fenggang River flow together here. With Fuhe Avenue of the main urban area of Fuzhou in the south and Fuhe River in the north, the project covers an area of 1,388 mu, including a landscape project, a water conservancy project, a municipal traffic and bridge project, and a water ecology project.
The area is outside the west city flood bank. Sand quarries, precast yards, some self-reclaimed farmlands, and the last village built on the bottomland beside Fuhe River are subject to constant flooding, filled with silt and garbage, with the dikes being heavily damaged. Fuzhou plans to move the flooded villages and restore the wetland in an effort to improve city quality. Through the five measures of "move, clean, drainage, prevention, and repair", the construction in a stepped pattern is in accordance with flood levels over the years to restore the wetland and make it an ecological gateway, a wetland paradise, a migratory bird habitat, a recreational area, a purification platform, and a tourist attraction.
